This model was developed during 1977. It was shown to the press in October together with 22 Daycruiser and 38 Commander. They all had the new design with rounded shapes of the cabin and foredeck. The design was not entirely new, it appeared already in the Deepsea model several years earlier. This model, 26 Family Sport, entered the market in 1978. The models in this series were the last to be designed by Hans Bruun Bertelsen for Coronet. The company was taken over the same year by Burmeister & Wain who kept 26 Family Sport in production until 1982.
The hull was in principle the same as for the old 26 Family but with a slightly modified bottom in order to enhance cruising performance. Standard engines were the following: Petrol 2xVP AQ140(B21), 1xVP AQ170(B30) and 1xVP AQ200(305ciV8) Diesel 1xVP AQAD40(Pro40) Some boats were also equipped with BMW engines and drives.
