Coronet 32 Oceanfarer is one of Coronet’s most popular models and it was built throughout the 1970s in large numbers, especially in comparison with other boats of the same size. In Germany Oceanfarer was called Commander.
The model is a further development of 30 Oceanfarer. The hull of the latter boat was the same as that of 21 Daycruiser but enlarged to 30 ft length. From 1969 the hull was redesigned to become 2 ft longer, and the bottom was slightly ”hooked” towards the stern. The new 32 ft model thus acquired a better cruising performance already at about 20 knots and it could thus be equipped with smaller engines (Volvo Penta 3 litre 6 cylinder AQ165 and later AQ170). Almost all boats had engines with Aquamatic drives. There were, however, also boats with propeller shafts and then with a different arrangement of the petrol tanks.
In 1980 32 Oceanfarer was equipped with a wing and was named 32 Oceanfarer Wing. Many 32 Oceanfarer owners have fitted the wing afterwards on their older boats, hence there is some confusion regarding when 32 Oceanfarer Wing actually was introduced.
