!
This boat, from 1969, has its original petrol Volvo AQ170 with a 250 leg. Although the engine is working and all the obvious maintenance has been done, I intend to be using her at sea off the South coast of England, and have some concerns about reliability.
The obvious move would be to replace the engine and leg with a new Volvo D3 - but this is not possible because of the cost (GBP 19,000!).
Any suggestions would be welcome, please.
Secondly, the trim tabs are not working, and have not been necessary on the inland lake where I have been using the boat.
Do other owners consider trim tabs essential?
Many thanks, Charles

Charles,
If you could find a Volvo Penta Kad32 I would recommend it indeed. I have one in my 21 dc with a 290 leg., Makes approx 38 knots. Fuel consumtion 0,6 litre per nautical mile. Very powerful accelaration with the compressor. Fits perfect in the engine room.
And yes you need trim tabs on the 21 dc. I have traditional Bennet´s on my boat. If I have to change I would go for the new QL trim system.
