24 Cabin Deluxe 1966-electrical details?

Hello,

I am new to this club and will strive to follow protocol. I'm sorry I don't speak Swedish. (My great-grandparents came here from Denmark, but I don't speak Danish, either!)

I have much restoration to do on this boat, and I am looking at doing extensive rewiring. I am seeking wiring diagrams for this Coronet, and/or a copy of the owner's manual, if such exists.

Also, can someone tell me what the switches on the instrument panel control? I am interested in the 3 white plastic switches at the top above the tachometers, and the 2 left and right toggle switches at the bottom. I'm only concerned with the switches within the metal plate which houses the tachometers, oil presure and charging lamps. I am assuming these are original. If they aren't, well then, I'll have to trace the circuit.

Thank you for any help.
Regards,
George

Hello George,

Not sure if this will be of much help with the wiring diagrams, nevertheless I would recommend buying one of the cd/dvd's via the club shop. I found a owners manual for my boat, and a lot of other interesting information.

In regards to your switches, you may want to contact Volvo Penta and see if they may be able to help you. My gut feeling is that they are not original but an after market add on by an old owner.

Good Luck,

\\Wayne

Hello Wayne,

The CD/DVD looks good, and I see that a 1965 model is included, so I'll follow your recommendation. However, I'll have to find a way to play back PAL as I'm in the North America where the system is NTSC.

Thanks for your comments on the switches-I suspect you're right.

Regards,
George

On my -71/72 32 OF with the same instrument panel for the AQ 170s the three switches are for:

1. Engine room fan
2. Wind shield wipers
3. Instrument backlight

Hi George & Johan,

I concur withe comment, but I believe that I have also seen the righthand switch configured for bilge pump and instrument lights switched with navigation lights.

I don't think the two toggle switches are original; they are typical after market switches, and I haven't seen them in Coronet instrument panels before.

Best of luck with your project!

Thanks for more information. Tracing the functions of these switches will probably end up being the least difficult of the re-wiring tasks!
