Seafarer I: need help for my decision of buying restoration project

Hi @all,

at first, I'm Florian from Germany and I'm really happy having found this club and board. I think I will apply for a membership very soon.

As I could buy a Seafarer 27' for a very low price, wich need to be restored. The Current owner is over 70 now, so he can not restore it on his own. The boat has a good substance as well as 2 AQ115 Volvo Penta that are in a good shape, i only need some advise and your experiences for the decision. As the Seafarer 27' has a hull of wood coated with gfk (or is it grp in english), can you tell me where i should have a look and pay attention to see if the wood is also in a good shape? So that i do not beginn a project that is sure to fail before it starts. ;-)

Furthermore it would be interesting if you have some more documentation in the section "Coronet archive" wich would help after aplying for a membership here.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Best Florian

The archive is an absolute gold mine with regards to information about Coronet boats. Unfortunately, for the early 27 Seafarer, there are only about 168 documents, only 26 of them are drawings. For the 27 Seafarer II there are altogether 1432 documents, 545 of them are drawings. The archive was very helpful in my decision to buy my boat and absolutely essential for planning the restoration. If you are interested in buying a Coronet, the cost of a membership and archive access is almost negligible. Good Luck and keep searching!
